Inmate Testimony: Shane B

Dear Bob,

I am writing in response to a letter you sent me back in July of 2009. I’m sorry what it has taken me such a long time to write you back. As I’m sure you can understand, it has taken me quite some time to come to terms with my present circumstances. I have read your letter countless times since receiving it and I have kept it the top of my growing pile of correspondence because I knew that when I was ready, that I wanted to write you. I won’t subject you to details that led to my incarceration. What’s important to me now is finally figuring out how to permanently rid myself of the patterns that have led me back to this place time and time again. I’ve never been skeptical about God’s love for me. Quite the opposite actually. I just have always lacked the focus to be steady in my convictions.

Let me get back to the point though, your letter. My aunt, Janice Brown has been encouraging me to write you back for months I was very much like to be connected with someone to correspond with. I do attend weekly church services here it would be nice to connect with someone outside these walls. I’m trying hard to stay focused. I use the Bible you sent every day. Of course it’s easy to stay focused in here. I know that when I get out it’s when the hard part is going to begin. While I’ve got five more years to build a strong foundation that will take all the help I can get, because I really want to change. I want to get to watch my daughter grow up. I can accomplish any other things like that from here. Anyways your letter meant a lot to me and the Bible meant the world thank you for both. Hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,

Shane
